The History of Rutger Hauer

Hauer was born into a family of drama teachers. His birth was on January 23, 1944, and he eventually adopted his parents’ love of acting. Interestingly, he didn’t take to it at first but later, he went to Amsterdam to attend the Academy for theater and dance. Eventually, he joined an experimental troupe and continued for five years before he was finally cast as the lead role in Floris, a 1969 television series.

That show launched him into fame and he continued to star in many films over his career. In America, he debuted in Nighthawks, a Stallone flick and eventually in Blade Runner

He became a well-known face of Guinness beer in the 1990s and began starring in various low-budget films. Some of those films included Split-Second, Omega Doom and New World Disorder. He continued acting in the early 2000s and eventually, earned a Golden Globe award for best-supporting actor.

He did a voiceover in 2017 for a UK advertising campaign for Lurpak butter. He continued acting until he passed away.
